About

Welcome! I am Mandy Taylor. My career began in 1998 when I graduated from Mary Hardin-Baylor with a degree in Education. I was in the classroom for seventeen years in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade, and recently transitioned out of the classroom into an Instructional Coaching position.

Along the way, I discovered a passion for literacy, a love for learning, and a fascination with public speaking. Coaching is the perfect match for all of the things I love about education, although it is still quite difficult to not be in a classroom. People have suggested I not admit that because it may take away from my role as a Coach, but I prefer to acknowledge who I truly am and how I truly feel and hope that people consider that an asset instead of a liability.

I have been able to hone my craft in various ways throughout my career. I attended the Central Texas Writing Project and became a Teacher Consultant. I was able to work with other teachers and discovered that I really enjoyed the process of having conversations with educators. This summer will be my second year as Co-Director of the CTWP, and I also serve on the Leadership Board.

I love sitting down with teachers individually and in small and large groups and sharing about our work with kids. I believe in relationships, humor, authenticity, and love. I do not believe that my way is the best way; I believe that we all have lots to share about children, how they learn, and how we can use our unique talents to reach them in different ways. In addition to my campus and district colleagues, I am connected with many educators through Twitter, Voxer, and Google Communities. I am amazed how technology has allowed me to learn so much about the things I am interested in and how it has opened up my eyes to new resources that can help children.

I would love to connect with you! E-mail me with questions or to have me come present at your campus. I look forward to learning together!
